Dixville Notch for Obama

It's 9:10 P.M. PT and ten minutes after midnight on the East Coast, where the town of Dixville Notch, N.H., just posted the first results in the 2008 presidential election:

McCAIN 6

OBAMA 15

NADER 0


Don't break out the cold duck just yet. Dixville Notch's record for picking the winner in a presidential contest is mixed; same for its record in the state's celebrated primary. It's hard to know if this extrapolates into an Obama victory.

But you gotta start somewhere. The voices of perhaps 140 million Americans can't all speak at once. Dixville Notch is the first to be heard.
